What gets measured gets done!

Managing and developing organizations and individuals within organizations is a crucial aspect of leadership and a constantly relevant topic in companies and organizations. A popular concept in this context is performance management, which refers to systems for managing and tracking performance, and based on this, working on the development of organizations and individuals.

EFL offers a three-day program where we closely examine the concept of performance management in its context. We provide a training format where best practices from both theory and practice are thoroughly explored in relation to your current and future ambitions within performance management and business control. All this is designed to give you and your organization the boost needed to accelerate your performance management initiatives!

Management and follow-up as a “hard” tool for “soft” change?

All management and follow-up of management inevitably leads to the leadership wanting to learn from the evaluation, and based on this, try to change the perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors of groups or individuals. What do practice and research say about how we can benefit from the analysis of and learning from results to improve the management in your organization?

Content

During the training, we will place performance management in relation to other forms of management in and of organizations, such as activity-based management, value-based management, and financial management (budgeting). We will then examine the advantages and disadvantages of the different management forms and explore which mix of management approaches, based on your organization’s operational logic, is best suited for your business.

With the help of experts and guest resources, we will discuss management based on non-financial, strategically driven goals and key performance indicators. What are the strategically driving goals in your business? What goal conflicts and measurement problems may arise? How can the organization be driven towards better goal achievement through systematic analysis of outcomes?

Structure

The training is structured as 2+1 full days.

For you

This training is aimed at both those who work with management and control in some form and those who are generally curious about the concept and have increasingly realized that you and your organization need to work more actively with Performance Management. You will gain insights and practical tools for Performance Management, which you and your organization can build into and integrate within your operations.

Program Manager

The Program Manager for Performance Management is Hans Knutsson. Hans is a researcher in strategy and management at the School of Economics and Management, Lund University.

“In broad terms, managers can try to manage employee performance through best practice routines, goals, and values. But how do I know which mix of these management forms is best suited for my organization? How do you, above all, set non-financial goals that drive strategic development, and how do I follow up to ensure that the management is working? On what basis, with what benchmark, do I, as a manager, assess my employees’ performance, and what can I, as a manager, do to support better goal achievement? These are the questions that will be the focus during the three days.”
